ABSTRACT
Strand of a dolphin Sotalia fluviatilis (GERVAIS, 1853) (MAMMALIA: CETACEA: DELPHINIDAE) from the Araçagy beach, São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil. The common dolphin Sotalia fluviatilis is distributed along the eastern coast of South America, prossessing two varieties: fluvial and coastal. This species has approached the status of threatened of extinction probably due to antropic actions. The strand and reintroduction of a dolphin coast (Sotalia fluviatilis) found at the Araçagy beach, São Luís – Maranhão, Brazil in March 2000 is describle in this paper.
