SUICÍDIO E TENTATIVA DE SUICÍDIO ENTRE ADOLESCENTES EM GRANDE METRÓPOLE BRASILEIRA

Abstract

Devido a importância da alta incidência de suicídio e tentativas de suicídio entre adolescentes, objetivou-se descrever os casos e analisar, a partir de dados epidemiológicos já existentes e produzidos, os óbitos por suicídio e tentativas de suicídio entre adolescentes na cidade de São Paulo. Foi realizado um estudo observacional transversal, descritivo e analítico. Verificou-se uma prevalência maior de suicídio entre os homens e de tentativas de suicídio entre as mulheres. Contudo, foi observado um aumento percentual significativo no número de adolescentes do sexo feminino que cometeram suicídio.

SUICIDE AND ATTEMPTED SUICIDE AMONG ADOLESCENTS IN A LARGE BRAZILIAN METROPOLIS

ABSTRACT

Due to a high number of incidences of suicide and suicide attempts among adolescents, the objective of this study is to describe and to analyse those cases of suicide and attempted suicide in the city of São Paulo, based on existing as well as produced epidemiological data. It was a cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study carried out with the objective to describe and to analyse the cases of suicide and attempted suicide among adolescents living in the city of São Paulo. It was found a higher prevalence of suicide among men, while the prevalence of attempted suicide was higher among women. Though, a significant percentage increase was observed in the number of female adolescents who committed suicide.
