FOUCAULT’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO A DISCUSSION ON CHILDHOOD (DREN) AND SEXUALITY

Abstract

This article discusses, based on contributions from Michel Foucault’s thought, the way childhood and infantile sexuality have been produced in modern times. In view of this objective, a bibliographic research was carried out on reference works selected for analysis, which enabled the construction of a theoretical-conceptual discussion on the theme. This study allowed us to verify that children and their sexuality are produced as objects of modern science, especially medical, psychological and pedagogical discourses, which aim to standardize actions to conduct children’s behaviors. In this context, the child’s body is captured by emerging knowledge, in an attempt to make it productive and docile. To this end, family and school institutions play a primary role as spokespeople for such knowledge, assuming the role of watchmen and producers of modern childhood.
