Abstract

The following research had as main objective to analyze the psychological construction of Frederick Clegg as a serial kidnapper in formation in The Collector (2018), by John Fowles. The used methodology is the dialogized voices for Bakhtin (1998), denominated by the key-term Bakhtin Plurivocalism. As the results, have been pointed that Frederick utilized of his wealth to, after winning lottery, as a arm against his first victim, Miranda Gray, whom Frederick convinces himself to have fallen off in love. As final considerations, we affirm that Frederick enchanted himself with the idea of Miranda, —idealization that frustrated him as he needs to interact daily with a woman that he truly hates.
