Notes on the relationships between the portuguese language in Brazil and Tupi in times of digital technology

Abstract

Through this paper, we seek to consider how the Portuguese language, as the language of colonizers, began to receive influences from the most diverse languages ​​of countries colonized by the Portuguese. The analysis for this text is qualitative and our research was bibliographic. We used the children's book “O tupi que você fala”, by Claudio Fragata (2018), as an example of interrelations that the Portuguese language suffered in its direct contacts with the Tupi language in Brazil. This book also stands as an exemplary work of how identities are influenced all the time. The work is aimed at children, reporting, in a playful way, about how the language of the colonized also influenced the language of the colonizer in a powerful way and how we perceive ourselves as speakers of the Portuguese language in Brazil using influences from “other” languages ​​throughout time. This book can also be accessed online, allowing it to be used via various digital platforms and requiring digital multiliteracies from its readers.
