Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Gastrointestinal anastomotic leakage is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Its management through endoscopic vacuum therapy (VTE) has satisfactory results, but presents high costs. OBJECTIVE: Report a case of postoperative gastric anastomosis leakage treated by modified VTE technique. METHODS: Descriptive case report study. RESULTS: Patient treated effectively. CONCLUSION: The development of a low-cost technique to treat transmural defects of the upper gastrointestinal tract is relevant to the reality of Brazilian health centers that are lacking resources.
