Abstract

Brazil recently returned to the United Nations hunger map. This reality places the working class in a vulnerable situation, which justifies the need to address the topic in studies. In this sense, this article aims to reflect the food insecurity situation of Brazilians based on race and gender. The data for the discussion of this article were collected using the SIDRA platform of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), supported by critical bibliographic references that support the discussion. The debate is fought through the contradictions that exist in the capitalist mode of production, the result of a historical construction and which must be perceived in its entirety, thus using historical and dialectical materialism as an instrument for interpreting reality. It is possible to highlight that compared to white people, black people are more prone to food insecurity. However, the situation is more serious among black workers.
