Abstract

This article examines the implementation and challenges of ethnic-racial quota policy at the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA). By analyzing the history of these policy, the study highlights legislative reforms and institutional practices that have shaped the admission and verification of candidates' racial self-declaration. It emphasizes the need for ongoing review and monitoring to prevent fraud and ensure the integrity of the selection process. Recent changes in legislation are discussed, revealing how they impact the selection of quota beneficiaries and the administration of quota policies, especially regarding
the heteroidentification process.
