ERICO VERISSIMO E ALBERT CAMUS: diálogos intertextuais entre Noite e O estrangeiro

Resumo

Exame de um conjunto de  relações  intertextuais entre a novela Noite  (1954), escrita pelo  ficcionista  gaúcho  Erico  Verissimo,  e  o  romance  O  estrangeiro  (1942),  redigido  pelo escritor franco-argelino Albert Camus. No centro do exercício comparado está uma proposta de atualização  da  leitura  da  narrativa  de  Verissimo  pelo  texto  de  Camus.  São  três  paralelos estabelecidos: em primeiro lugar, a caracterização dos protagonistas – Desconhecido e Mersault – como estrangeiros; em segundo, a funcionalidade dos espaços ficcionais; e, por fim, a conduta de duas personagens secundárias – Mestre e Raymond. No âmbito desta reflexão, sustentamos uma  abordagem  comparatista  que  transcenda  as  fronteiras  textuais,  atingindo  o  campo  da interculturalidade.

 Abstract

Examination of a set of intertextual relations between the novel Night (1954), written by  the gaucho fictionist Erico Verissimo, and  the novel The stranger (1942), composed by  the French-Algerian writer Albert Camus. In the center of the compared exercise lies a proposal to update  the  reading of Verissimo’s narrative  by  the  text of Camus. There  are  three  established parallels:  first  of  all,  the  characterization  of  the  protagonists  – Unknown  and Meursault  –  as foreigners;  in second,  the functionality of  the fictional spaces; and, finally,  the conduct of  two secondary  characters  –  Master  and  Raymond.  In  the  scope  of  this  reflection,  we  sustain  a comparative approach that transcends the textual borders, reaching the field of interculturality.
