SCIENTIFIC CULTURE IN ENGINEERING: a systematic review with bibliometric contribution

The study investigates the elements of scientific culture highlighted in the training of engineers. It employs a qualitative approach, consisting of a systematic review supported by bibliometric resources using RStudio, Bibliometrix, and Biblioshiny. Analyzing articles from 2020 to 2024 in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, 27 documents were selected, categorized into two groups: (A) Implementation of activities aimed at promoting scientific culture, and (B) Elements/data related to scientific culture. There is a diversity of actions focused on fostering scientific culture, with a predominance of practical aspects, and a lack of broad articulation involving elements related to socio-scientific issues, the nature of science, and Science, Technology, and Society. The term scientific culture is not well-established in the field of Engineering, where the terminology scientific literacy prevails. This gap could be addressed, given the wide range of possibilities that the concept encompasses in the context of Engineering.
