Abstract

This article addresses notions such as “Ukrainization”, “Russification” and “Polonization” which throughout the history of Ukraine took the form of public policies and had an impact on Ukrainian populations in situations of domination under different empires. With the current Russian-Ukrainian war, the issue of cultural rights of certain ethnic or national groups, as
well as the need to reinforce national identity, gains importance in the context of combating
genocide.
