This article explores the complexities of love, eroticism, and poetry in the work Innocent Sky of Ashes (2020), by Cacio José Ferreira, basing in reflections on Octavio Paz and the influence of Japanese culture in Brazil. Initially, the concepts of eroticism and haiku are investigated. Then, the Western and Eastern perspectives of love are addressed, highlighting the differences and influences. The first two parts are contextualized by a temporal panorama. Finally, the article analyzes how Ferreira translates the concepts mentioned in his poetry, in contemporary times, exploring love as an experience that transcends the physical and seeks spiritual and emotional connections, while using nature as a metaphor to establish the mysteries of love and eroticism. In the conclusion, the work highlights the intersection of Japanese tradition and perspectives as a source of verticalized understanding of the themes, enriching the appreciation of human nature and its expressions of love.
