Abstract

Currently, ethics has shown itself as one of the most critical, effervescent and uncomfortable themes, both in private and public life. Paulo Freire shows us that teaching has nothing to do with transferring knowledge and that we need to know this for its reasons of being, since knowledge is much more and that it is necessary to be constantly witnessed and lived by people. Paulo Freire's words in all of his works bring us concerns about the role we are playing in the face of everything that is happening around us. When we analyze the writing of a book, which dates from 1996 and its author is no longer with us, when we think about everything that has been said about ethics, autonomy, coherence, common sense, humanity, we realize how we have involuted. We should be more just, more ethical human beings. But what have we been?
