The film executive order and the reflection on the perpetuation of the black colonial memory

Abstract

It presents the film Executive Order (2020) as a source of information related to black movement agendas in Brazil. The work reflected on the perpetuation of Brazilian black colonial memory through a dystopian view of reality, where it sought to address the cause and consequence of racist attitudes that become obstacles for the black population. The general objective of this article was based on reflection on the theme of the perpetuation of black colonial memory transmitted in the feature film Executive Order (2020), supported by the specific objectives: a) analyze the audiovisual as a source of information; b) understand the impact of the perpetuation of black colonial memory in society; and, c) reflect on the role of the film Executive Order (2020) as a disseminating source about the black movement. The methodology used was qualitative exploratory research through bibliographical survey, based on the concepts acquired through technical-scientific literature in the areas of Information Science, Librarianship and Cinema. It is concluded that the feature film Executive Order (2020) becomes a fundamental source of information for understanding the role of the perpetuation of colonial memory and its impact in the fight against black people racial discrimination in Brazil by widely assisting in racial identification and absorption of black culture and memory in Brazil.
