In the midst of discussions about identities in the contemporary world that have authors such as Zygmunt Bauman, Stuart Hall and Benedict Anderson as some of the main ones, reflecting on the relationship of the places with its individuals also contributes to the deconstruction of the notion of
nationality as it is traditionally treated by Europeans. Using the issue of topophilia as a central issue,
as studied by humanist geographer Yi-fu Tuan, this article reflects on the relations of identity affinities between Paquetá Island and Baixada Fluminense, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, presenting elements, extracted from writings of different kinds, that prove the presence of "topophilia" (of "geo-affectivity") and that Paquetá Island once belonged to Baixada Fluminense. It is a preliminary study that brings up interdisciplinary issues inherent to the two places mentioned regarding topophilic relationships.
