The recent expansion of the real estate frontier on the metropolitan periphery of Belém has turned
to the selective and differential production of living space. This production occurs in an area of significant lack of infrastructure and informal occupation of the urban soil, where the social strata of medium and low income prevails. Considering this context, a study was developed to analyze the role that the new living spaces perform on the spatial production on the metropolitan periphery of Belém in the first quarter of XXI century and the process of socio spatial differentiation that they initiate. The study considers the advance of the capitalist form of dwelling production and the real estate market cycle in metropolis. To the analysis of socio spatial differentiation was selected datas the particular residences, as bathroom‟s numbers, average monthly income of those responsible localization and access condition to the urban infrastructure. It appears that the real estate expansion has been producing residential spaces while territorial enclaves, which express the fragmentation process and socio spatial inequality that characterizes the metropolitan of Belém.
