Abstract

This article seeks to examine how several countries that make up the Latin American community reacted to the context of the sanitation crisis, with a focus on the treatment given to individuals in mobility. To answer the central questions raised by the article, and what were the impacts and conflicts generated by the pandemic, journalistic articles that deal with the reality of the countries examined will be examined. Seeking to understand the position of journalists, the article uses the contributions from discourse analysis. It was possible to infer from the data that although countries have adopted the Human Rights perspective, aspects of national security still coexist, which are reinforced in the pandemic context, with the growing hate speech and repudiation of the presence of migrants.
