Abstract

The present work analyzes the issue of gender violence, as a violation of human rights, focusing on the increase in cases of violence against women in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, during the period of social isolation that occurred in Brazil. The objective is to point out the main challenges to the fight against gender violence to be overcome by the country in a pandemic context, in order to effectively comply with Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations. The approach adopted is directed to the analysis of the content of representative speeches of governmental institutions, in the form of bibliographical and documental research. Empirical data provided by international organizations, UN Women and the Datafolha Research Institute are considered as sources.
