Abstract

The article presents the discussion at the Coordinated Thematic Table of ongoing research in Brazil and Chile, emphasizing the challenges of the health field and the social field as a place crossed by multiple forms of power, knowledge and technologies. The analysis is anchored in the specialized literature to deepen the perspective of analysis of the Covid-19 pandemic and its relationship of interdependence and reciprocal interpenetration between the national and international dimensions of public health. It emphasizes the challenge of facing social vulnerability aggravated by dynamics of the pandemic, the obstacles to the financing of social policies, deepening the issues related to the dynamics of care, the instrumentality, and the accumulated knowledge about the field of health in the interface with the field of social policies in facing the multiple forms of social inequality in different national contexts.
