Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the connections and mediations inherent in the categories used territory and public policies in the context of peripheral capitalism, electing the scale of everyday life as a starting point for different and articulated problematizations in relation to peripheral territories, public policies and their repercussions in the pandemic context, also addressing the reality faced in the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology (IFs). It highlights the periphery as a relational territorial space, socially constructed under the logics of the process of production and reproduction of peripheral capitalism, analyzing the contradictions and potentials of class experiences in these territories. It walks through the reflection around the densities of reality and raises the production of new knowledge in the scope of public policies, having as starting point testimonies of struggle for survival present in the territories of the cities, considering the impacts of the pandemic of COVID-19. It discusses the political meanings of the IFs, based on the daily actions of teaching, research and extension and their articulation with the territories where they live. It makes reflections based on the daily work experiences of social workers in the IF-São Paulo - Jacareí Campus, unveiling some aspects present in the reality of this sociooccupational space and the subjects of professional action in times of "pandemic capitalism".
