Abstract

This article is the result of a research on the global drug market, work, informality and the situation of Brazilian and foreign men and women imprisoned under the criminal classification of Law 11.343, of 2006. The first part of the article has the objective of situating the qualitative and quantitative character of the research by privileging the use of open data from national and international sources and the dialogic Marxist analysis of discourse for the examination of semi-structured interviews. Next, it seeks to unravel the relationships between flows, routes and geopolitical conflicts triggered by the global cocaine market and the strategic role of South America and the Amazon region in its production and export to Europe and Africa. In the final considerations, some notes are made on the triad: regularization, decriminalization, and legalization as a responsibility of the State.
