Abstract

Mining plays a central role in the economic formation of the state of Pará (PA). Therefore, the objective of this text is to analyze how the company Vale S.A., and consequently the mining sector, acts in the territorial dynamics in the Region of Carajás (PA), focusing in particular on the repercussions brought to the Indigenous Land (TI) Xikrin do Cateté . For this, in addition to analyzing the theoretical arguments presented by the Brazilian geographer Milton Santos, secondary data and official statistics are also brought in that help to draw the dynamics that manifest in this space from the influence of the mining company and some of its repercussions for the indigenous people. Xikrin. The main results point to a centrality of the company in the economic dynamics of the territory.
