Abstract

This research highlights the Núcleo Afro Odomodê, a public facility for Afro-Brazilian youth belonging to the Municipal Prefecture of Vitória, Espírito Santo State. Focused on promoting the appreciation of black youth culture and empowerment, Odomodê offers afroreferenced actions for the teaching of ethnic-racial relations, such as study groups, workshops, courses, events; having as a principle, the Municipal Youth Plan, the Youth Statute Law No. 12.852/2013 and the Racial Equality Statute, Law No. 12.288/2010. The objective of this research focused on understanding how the body culture of movement related to the Afro cultures worked in Odomodê interfere in the daily lives of these youths. Methodologically, we adopted an interpretative, qualitative study with tools of participant observation and fieldwork, using a field diary, and semi-structured interviews. In this paper we will discuss the cognitive dimension of the Black empowerment process.
