Abstract

This paper sought to describe the Democratization strategies of cultural projects promoted by the Culture Incentive Law (LIC). Qualitative research was carried out, starting with the collection of a random sample of cultural projects made possible between 2009 and 2018, analyzing the content of the democratization strategies of these projects. The
democratization measures of the projects were categorized into strategies of: accessibility and financial access to cultural productions; openness and outreach of cultural productions and equipment; audience formation; and donation and dissemination of cultural products. It was concluded that the conception of democratization taken by the LIC has been undergoing changes that have been incorporated into the normative instructions and that the initial orientation that was based on the democratization of culture has been transformed into cultural democracy.
