Abstract

Taking as a basis the concepts and categories of the Rural Development field of knowledge, we sought to
understand the socioeconomic and productive reality of the Terra Bela Settlement; its insertion into the productive structure of the municipality of Buriticupu; the organizational structure and collective actions of the settlers; the potential and obstacles to the development of the respective settlement. For such investigation and apprehension of reality, the concepts and categories of the Rural Development field of knowledge were adopted. Bibliographic reviews were carried out on primary and secondary sources, semi-structured interviews and random conversations were carried out with the settlers. We conclude that the settlement is in a structural reality of land concentration, in which families seek to survive, and despite everything it survives; the need for an organization of these families is highlighted so that they can face the current perspective of the
context in which they are inserted.
