Abstract

The rise of hunger in Brazil is a fact related to a series of factors, especially the process of dismantling public policies aimed at promoting Food and Nutritional Security. The article aims to analyze the development of public policies to combat hunger in Brazil from the perspective of the current situation. For this, it traces the historical context of discussion
and formulation of such policies from 1940 onwards to then understand and discuss the contemporary scenario. It brings a qualitative approach, based on documental and bibliographical research, based on laws, websites, articles, books and periodicals, also composing research construction efforts for the PPGAPP/UFC dissertation. Thus, the inclusion of public policies aimed at combating hunger, at the heart of the governance model, aligned with transversal measures of action, is fundamental for the advancement of this issue.
