THE SOUTH IS THE BRAIN; THE WEST, THE ARMS: Quijano's concepts for thinking about IRs

The objective of the article is to present the theory of the coloniality of power as a means of producing knowledge in International Relations, with the aim of mobilizing more academics to learn about and contribute to the theoretical area of IR and its developments from the Global South. Starting from a qualitative, descriptive and reflexivist approach, solidified arguments in the IR discipline were contrasted with the arguments presented by Aníbal Quijano in his various texts that deal with power, race, Eurocentrism and coloniality of power. In conclusion, the mainstream approach to IR still produces knowledge that finds limited support in the context of the Global South, which limits its operational capacity. The decolonial perspective, in this sense, is an important theoretical construct for thinking about international relations from the South.
