Abstract

Problematising the metaphysical, ontological, and epistemological implications that coloniality exerts on psychology and Western modes of life and knowledge, this article proposes a critical analysis of the philosophical anthropology of modernity from the perspective of the philosophy of Indigenous peoples. On one hand, totalizing unification
operates alongside a transcendental conception of the subject, subjugating what it takes as the object to a supposed homogeneity of nature. On the other hand, Indigenous cosmopolitics emerges as a counter-anthropology in which humanity is a pronominal mode, a non-exclusive perspectival position of human beings, constructed in each context of relationships. With it, new foundations and agendas are established for psychology as a social practice connected to the expansion of existential horizons and the construction of an ecosophic care as a decolonial way of life.
