Abstract

The main objective of this article is to problematize the theme of fetishism in two central categories present in Book III of Capital, interest-bearing capital and fictitious capital. It is argued that the development of the functional forms of
capital reaches the apex of fetishism in fictitious capital which, in our view, has the formula D-D', money that generates valued money without going through production. To demonstrate such arguments, we concentrated our reading mainly on
some chapters of Section V of Book III of Capital, as well as comparing these chapters with the Manuscripts of 1864-65.
