Abstract

Based on bibliographic research, it aims to develop discussions on the concept of information considering the recurrent theoretical and methodological frameworks of the Actor-Network Theory, whose understanding comes from radical constructivism. It broadens the perception of the theoretical-conceptual scenario of Information
Science and the positivist approaches that had repercussions throughout its development, debating its interdisciplinary bias, and emphasizing decentration in the context of today's society. It presents the following question: how does the notion of information within Information Science, highlighting its social and multifaceted character, discuss its understanding from the perspective of Actor-Network Theory? Taking it as a methodological possibility from the Ethnographic research and the
Cartography of Controversies, it contributes to the understanding of information as a phenomenon instituted by multiple means and human, non-human and institutional subjects, widely verified and constituted in several fields of knowledge in the within the social. Finally, it considers opportune to propose the challenge of reflecting on the conception of information, reaggregating the Actor-Network Theory approaches to the concept of social in the face of the current scenario proposed by contemporary society and marked by socio-technical perceptions.
