Discourse Analysis, artificial intelligenceAbstract
When addressing the topic of artificial intelligence, the general objective is to discuss its potentialities
and risks in academic research, based on the theoretical foundations of Michel Pêcheux’s French Discourse Analysis and the materialist theory of discourse, using qualitative discourse analysis in dialogue with Althusser and Bourdieu as the mobilized theoretical bases. The results indicate that students or researchers should never regard artificial intelligence as their mentor, highlighting the need for critical curation and ethical use of new digital tools. Regarding meaning effects (Pêcheux, 2014), reflections also focus on the impact of these new tools in producing the appearance of veracity, neutrality, universality, and unquestionable truth, drawing attention to aspects such as failure and the distortion of reality in the discourse structured by digital tools in contemporary society.
