In this article, the relationships between the dynamics of borders in the Brazilian Legal Amazon in response to the process of creating municipalities, the impacts of deforestation over time and their relationships with climate change and sustainability, which aggravate socioeconomic fragility, are explored. and environmental aspects of the region. The bibliographic review allowed us to reflect, analyze and interpret the data obtained, confirming the growing challenges faced since the 1950s due to disorderly urbanization, expansion of agricultural frontiers and increased deforestation. Therefore, municipalities created after 1970 do not show a significant difference in performance compared to older ones, as indicated by the Sustainability Barometer, and it is also clear that all municipalities in AL are at intermediate levels of Human and Environmental Well-Being. In this context, the extensive ecological changes caused by deforestation and its environmental impacts are not compensated by a different performance of socioeconomic conditions.
