The place of culture in economic and social development: critical review of Fellowine Sarr's Afrotopia

Abstract

The book Afrotopia by Senegalese economist Fellowine Sarr, released in Brazil in 2019, discusses the destinations of Africa and the means to improve the quality of life of its communities. The work makes reference to the cultural bases of African peoples that safeguard psychological, therapeutic, agronomic and environmental knowledge that can serve as a support for the economic development of African states in contemporary times. In this sense, it is necessary to create new epistemological concepts based on the knowledge of intellectuals, priests and artists from Africa, creating a network of mutual exchange between Africans, whose guidelines must serve the internal and endogenous progress of the continent..
