This study analyzes the panorama of applied research in journalism in the Brazilian context, adopting a regional approach. Using a quantitative
methodology, theses and dissertations cataloged in Compós, articles published in communication journals listed by Compós, as well as the annals of prominent events in Communication, such as the Intercom, Compós, SBPJor and ABEJ congresses, were considered during the period from 2010 to 2024. The analysis was based on the data available on the OPAJor platform, revealing a measured adherence to applied research in journalism in Brazil, with only 181 studies identified over the period.
