Magia, feminidad y alteridad: uma sintesis sobre la figura de las profetisas nórdicas em las fuentes escandinavas medievales

Las fuentes literarias de la Escandinavia medieval dejaron diversos registros e impresiones sobre ciertas prácticas mágicas y aquellos que las practicaban. Entre tales descripciones figura una serie de profetisas llamadas vǫlur (en singular, vǫlva), a quienes los narradores medievales atribuían poderes relacionados con la adivinación y la magia ofensiva causante de daño. Nuestro propósito es analizar las fuentes medievales para realizar un balance crítico, llegando a una síntesis sobre cómo estas profetisas eran percibidas por la mentalidad escandinava medieval. Apoyándonos en la perspectiva de la Historia del Discurso Mágico, buscamos señalar no solo cuáles eran los poderes sobrenaturales que se les atribuían en las fuentes, sino también evidenciar que la práctica de la magia parece haber estado asociada a la feminidad y la otredad, dado que estas mujeres son frecuentemente vinculadas a otras etnias de la región e incluso a la propia raza de los gigantes. Esto nos revela que la magia era considerada una forma alternativa y marginalizada de alcanzar ciertos objetivos y/o obtener ventajas, sobre todo en el ámbito campesino nórdico.
