THE SAFEGUARDING OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL HERITAGE AND POSSIBLE PATHS TO ANOTHER PEDAGOGICAL TOURISM
the case of the Historical Museum of São Vicente-RN, Brazil

The main objective of the present work is to present the main contributory actions of the Museu Histórico de São Vicente (RN) for the safeguarding of the archaeological heritage, contributing to the promotion of another pedagogical tourism. This is an exploratory and descriptive research with a qualitative approach. A bibliographic research was carried out, as well as an on-site visit and interviews with museum managers. For the stage of data analysis and interpretation, the analysis technique used was descriptive. The Museu Histórico de São Vicente (MHSV), whose purpose is to contribute to the safeguarding of memory and oral history, the appreciation of art and culture and the dissemination of the cultural, material and immaterial heritage of the municipality, in addition, has associated its activities with the practice of pedagogical tourism promoting educational actions elucidating the importance of strengthening the safeguarding of the archaeological heritage.
